Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Decide you want to "treat yo self" to a nice clean breakfast. When you do, make your way to Public Kitchen, located on 215 Chrystie Street. Public Kitchen, tucked in the back of the  lower level of Public Hotel is chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's and Ian Schrager's latest restaurant.

The restaurant that seats 150 guests is casual and chic with austere decor. Like all other Jean-Georges' restaurants the decor details at this eatery are perfect for its space. The pleated bright yellow banquette against white glazed tiles are complimented with hanging lamps and natural light coming from the glass doors that lead to the al fresco garden.

My visit here was short and sweet. I had stayed in the hotel and wanted a quick but healthy breakfast before I headed out. That is exactly what they had to offer. As always, I ordered my hot water and lemon, coffee and their avocado toast (to which I added smoked salmon) $23. My avocado toast consisted of a multigrain sliced bread, mashed avocado, sunflower seeds, basil and lime and of course the slices of smoked salmon I had added. Not too fishy, not slimy, not stale, fresh!  I also got a chance to try their red and their green fresh pressed juices, courtesy of my server. The red juice was a blend of carrots, beets, lemon, ginger and orange $10. The green was made with ginger, spinach, granny smith apples, cucumber, lemon and kale $10. The portions seem small but one of these juices would suffice for breakfast.

If you are craving a comfort American breakfast they have a section catered to you, and includes gluten free almond pancakes with bananas.

The service was quick, efficient and felt like fine dining. If you are in the Lower Eastside and need to quickly grab breakfast Public Kitchen is Nadia approved. Please keep in mind this is a "treat yo self breakfast" as you'd be spending 25+ for breakfast for one. Remember you get what you pay for and I doubt you'll be disappointed with the food, service and ambiance.

FUN FACT: PUBLIC KITCHEN ISN'T KNOWN FOR ITS BREAKFAST BUT FOR IT'S ECLECTIC DINNER MENU.
