After devouring a fat, tasty, $20 pastrami sandwich at Katz’s Deli I sat in my car with Unique to talk about her journey in the entertainment industry.

She’s a Washington D.C. native that has now been in NYC for 10 years. Out of all the things she wears, her smile is what captivates most. When she says she’ll do something, she get it’s done, quickly! Unique Chapman is her name, and you want to remember that.

Unique is a digital content creator, entertainment correspondent with a background in public relations, digital media and radio. Currently, you can find her at Hot 97 doing a plethora of things, one of my personal favorite, producing and hosting her podcast “Dear Black Girl.” In this podcast she interviews black women that have a story to tell, women that as she says, “are changing the face of entertainment, music and fashion industry.” The women are asked to chose their 5 favorite songs, songs that inspire them, songs that have impacted their lives, songs that have become their source of energy. If you take listen, you’ll quickly notice the nonexistent pattern among the women she interviews. They’re all black, yes. But, with different journeys, different, perspectives and different goals. The one thing they all do have in common, is the way in which they use their platforms to change the narrative of black women in our society.
